Summary:
The Director of Finance will be responsible for the overall financial management of the property and will work closely with Executive Management, Department Leaders, and the Management and Ownership Groups to ensure the property's financial success.
Qualification StandardsEducation &
Experience:
Five years or more of related experience required.
Two plus years Director of Finance level hotel experience required.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
Required Skills / Abilities Excellent management and supervisory skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Proficient in accounting software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software Duties & FunctionsEssential:
Oversee the property's accounting and finance team including hiring, training, and mentoring.
Oversee the property's accounting and financial systems including accounts payable, accounts receivable, labor management and payroll.
Prepare monthly financial reports ensuring the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and the company's financial reporting standards.
Prepare business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets timely as required.
Analyze financial data and provide recommendations for revenue enhancement, cost savings, and cost controls.
Develop and implement financial strategies and plans to support the property's overall goals and objectives.
Coach and lead department heads regarding financial responsibility and best practices to ensure success in their roles and for the property.
Ability to communicate in detail in all required meetings.
Uphold the property's values of caring and respect in every interaction.
Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions.
Ensure successful treasury cash management in compliance with the company's policy.
Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; ensure accurate sales, use, and occupancy tax returns and all other local and state tax filings as required.
Coordinate with outside auditors and providing needed information for periodic internal and external audits.
Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Present recommendations to the general manager and department heads on short and long-term financial objectives and policies.
Continually looking for opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department and hotel through the leveraging of technology.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Continuously monitor economic, social, and governmental trends, policies, and ordinances to ensure that management and ownership are kept fully apprised of any implications that may affect the performance of the hotel in meeting its financial objectives.
Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
